How to use your moxa stick

Moxibustion or “moxa” is a herb that we in Chinese medicine call Ai Ye (Artemisia vulgaris), commonly known as mugwort. The form of moxa used at home is where the herb has been carbonised and compressed into a cigar shaped form for easy and safe use.

If moxa has been prescribed for use at home it is likely very important part of your Chinese medicine treatment to reach desired outcomes. Most commonly moxa is prescribed for home use for (but not limited to):

  • Breech presentation during pregnancy

  • Post partum / Fourth trimester recovery

  • Improving breastmilk production

  • Improving energy

  • Assisting with pain management, including period pain

  • Scar therapy and post surgical recovery

  • Testicular pain

  • Digestive issues / pain

Here are our instructions for safe use at home. Please make sure you follow the specific application instructions provided your practitioner properly.

Warning: very hot tip once lighted and should be used with caution in well ventilated room. Do not let children perform moxibustion. While a ‘smokeless’ product do not purposefully inhale residual smoke. To be used only as directed by your medical practitioner. If experiencing excessive sweating, cease immediately and contact the clinic for advice.
