Preparing Post Partum Soupercharger
Congratulations mumma! You’re about to enter the ‘Golden Month’ - a time that is transformational for women.
The Golden Month is the Chinese name for the special weeks following childbirth, usually a 4-6 week joyful period where the new mum focusses on rest and nurturing her newborn, and is traditioanlly cared for by older women in her communiy.
It is believed that many chronic diseases can be cured if the mother has adequate time to recover and is looked after properly in her ‘Golden Month’.
Our Post Partum recovery pack helps new mothers recover from any kind of birth in our modern world using diet therapy and post partum moxibustion therapy known as ‘Mother Warming’.
The Post Partum Soupercharger can be added to any of your favourite stock recipes. Chicken stock is traditionally used in the post partum due to it’s outstanding nourishment properties.
There are many variations of chicken soup worldwide. Here is a the recipe we recommend.

1 large onion
2 carrots
3 celery sticks
1 bunch parsley
Filtered water to cover
5 slices of ginger
small handful chopped spring onion
dash white wine, optional
Salt to taste (or a quality Soy Sauce)
1 post partum soup herb packet (provided by the clinic)
DIRECTIONS
Cut chicken into pieces.
Roughly chop the onion, carrots, celery and parsley.
Add all ingredients to a large saucepan or stock pot. Bring to the boil and simmer for at least two hours - the longer you let simmer, the richer the flavour will be.
Remove from the heat, strain and let cool.
Skim off the fat when cool and store in the fridge for up to three days, or alternatively freeze in portions to defrost and use as required.
Use the stock in cooking soups, stews, risottos and any other dish you care to make which requires stock, or you can simply drink as a nutritious hot broth.
Why we made this pack
Diet Therapy is a potent method of healing the body, and good postpartum nutrition can make an enormous difference to the experience a mother has in her Golden Month and her ability to recover well. Bearing in mind the increased nutritional requirements during recovery and breastfeeding, a nutrient-dense diet is necessary.
In Chinese medicine the postpartum diet with added herbals are designed to specifically and potently nourish Yin, Blood and Qi, replacing lost resources, aiding in the repair of damaged tissue, heal the uterus and vagina, to support breastfeeding, and to provide warmth to the body.
The moxibustion or ‘moxa’ stick is for a useful one-off treatment called Mother Warming. The treatment is given around day four or five post-birth. It can be utilised to energise women and aid recovery of the uterus. Visit here for moxibustion instructions.
